Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. Her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 with Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued posting her music online including her self-released single Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later in the year because he was hoping for Rihanna to work together on a few references. In December 2008, the news was made public that Rihanna had been signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she performed with Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, she dropped her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed on her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream was released on September 5, 2018 with a music video. Then, on the 9th of November, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 13, she dropped two singles titled One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released for the song. It already has over three million hits on YouTube within its debut week. In support of the track She toured together with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
